Environmental Sociology
15127 - Seminar
Prof. Dr. Bernhard Gill
Mo. 10-12 Uhr c.t., Konradstr. 6, 109
Beginn: 24.04.2017 Ende: 24.07.2014
Environmental sociology asks a) how societies could make themselves forget (for a century or two) that they are depending on natural environments b) why natural environments are becoming nowadays a concern for some groups and narratives and not for others c) what elements and problems are focused and which are ignored (again by different groups and narratives) d) how social inequalities are distributed and articulated in the wake of "nature becoming real" – i.e. the ecological crisis becoming consented. The seminar will study how these questions are approached from different traditions within social theory.
